New to Yoga? Or just new to the Neighbourhood?

You are welcome here.

I am so happy you are looking to the teachings of yoga for some peace and vitality.

Tips for Getting Started

Start gently

Increase your exploration of the physical aspects of yoga gradually. All my sessions are tailored to who is in the room - you can scale up or down. If you are a confident mover or have yoga experience, feel welcome to try any class as often as you like. Awaken Flow sessions move quicker than others. Complete beginners might like to get acquainted with yoga, the teaching style and the space in General or Beginner first. You will find descriptions on the Schedule page.

Yoga works when we are consistent

Our nervous system appreciates predictable rhythms and patterns. Just like regular nutritious meals and having good sleep hygiene, frequent yoga practise starts to signal to the body, breath and mind as an integrated system that there is safe harbour coming around the corner during the stressors of life. Begin with once or twice a week and get really good at that. Then add on.

Enrol in a class

  • All classes are offered in Six Week Series to cultivate discipline and progression.

  • If you are new and want to ‘try before you buy’, please email Julieanne to check for an available Drop In space. Consider trialling Julieann’e style at home using the On Demand library here.

  • Make your enrolment from the Schedule. For future bookings, use the same email address on the Apple or Android booking app.

  • Some sessions will book out due to size of Yoga Room.

  • Please note the Cancellation Policy and cancel under the My Events section of your account. This ensures others, especially new students wanting to try yoga, don’t miss out.

  • If you need assistance with online booking or fee access, please contact Julieanne.

What to bring

Please bring your own yoga mat. Bring a cushion if sitting on the floor is uncomfortable. Please contact Julieanne if you would like a chair to sit in for yoga.

Wear clothes that are comfortable for movement including sitting and lying down. There are toilets available if you need to change. BYO water bottle and towel.

Arriving

  • For Split Spaces classes, please arrive no later than 5 minutes prior to the class start time as we will meet downstairs and go up to the Yoga Room together. No late arrival is possible.

  • For Penn Street classes, please arrive no earlier than 10 minutes prior to class start time.

  • Eating less than an hour before your class may lead to discomfort. Everyone is different.

In the yoga room

  • The yoga room is a quiet space. This is not strict or enforced as friendships usually blossom in the good hood. However, please be mindful of others taking quiet time before the practice.

  • Please arrange your mat so that everyone can see the teacher and the teacher can see you.

  • Before the class begins, let the teacher know if you have any health concerns or pre-existing injuries.

  • Once the session begins, if you have pain or discomfort, discontinue that activity and shift to something that is comfortable. Or wait for assistance from the teacher.

Need to cancel a booking?

You can do this via the booking platform under My Events in your account. Your attention to the Cancellation Policy is appreciated by all.
